Meyers also shared a heartwarming anecdote about Reiner's ability to bring out the best in people. At Norman Lear's 100th birthday celebration, Reiner encouraged the TV producer to share a hilarious story about hiding in a birthday present.
"It's a story about Norman, but it's also a testament to Rob's talent. He had this incredible skill of drawing out the best in people, and seeing it in person was truly special," Meyers said.
However, the late-night host also addressed the controversial comments made by President Donald Trump, who blamed Reiner's murder on his political views and accused him of suffering from 'Trump Derangement Syndrome.' Meyers characterized Trump's response as uncouth and insensitive, especially given the timing of the tragedy.
"Rob was no fan of the president, and the president's reaction was equally unbecoming. Just hours after the murder, Trump took to social media to cast a shadow on an already dark day. It was a move I feared he would make, and it was even worse than I imagined," Meyers lamented.
Jimmy Kimmel echoed similar sentiments, calling for compassion and leadership in times of tragedy. He criticized Trump's initial post on Truth Social, blaming Reiner's death on his liberal views and insulting a recently deceased individual.
"It's hateful and vile. When I first saw it, I thought it was fake. But nothing is ever too much for Trump. He always manages to sink lower," Kimmel said.
Kimmel also played a clip of Trump's recent press conference, where he once again called Reiner 'deranged.' The audience jeered, highlighting the corrosive nature of Trump's rhetoric.
"That corroded brain is in charge of our lives," Kimmel remarked.
