Thailand is taking a giant leap towards a greener future! Technip Energies has been awarded a detailed engineering contract for PTTEP's groundbreaking Arthit Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) project, marking a pivotal moment for the nation's commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. This project, spearheaded by PTTEP and supported by Thoresen Jutal Offshore Engineering Heavy Industries Limited (Thailand), is more than just an engineering feat; it's a strategic move to pioneer CCS technology within Thailand. This initiative aligns with the government's Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) Action Plan on Mitigation 2021–2030, highlighting its significance in the country's decarbonization journey.
This project leverages existing infrastructure at the Arthit field while incorporating new facilities. Upon completion, the CCS project is designed to capture and store approximately 1 million tonnes of carbon dioxide annually. That's a substantial step in the right direction!
Technip Energies' role encompasses detailed engineering for new CCS processing units and CO2 injection facilities, alongside modifications to the existing Arthit Central Processing Platform. They're building on their previous work, having successfully completed the Pre-FEED and FEED phases between 2022 and 2023.
