Capcom's Street Fighter 2: The World Warrior had a unique typo fix: using a pixel from Guile's leg! Despite the sequel's success, Capcom didn't need to innovate. But they did, and it changed the fighting game genre forever. Akira Nishitani, the designer, noticed a typo just three days before release. The game's logo was misspelled as 'Street Fighter 2: The World Warrier'. Replacing the 'e' with an 'o' wasn't an option since the sprites were already finalized. So, Nishitani got creative. He took the 'Wo' sprites and placed them over the 'e', making it look like a lowercase 'L'. But that wasn't enough. They needed to add the dot for the 'i' to complete the logo. Fortunately, a Guile sprite had a single pixel of his leg, which was easily recolored to fit. This pixel was used to create the dot in 'World Warrior'. It's a fascinating story of creativity under pressure! JRH's video explains it all in detail, and it's definitely worth a watch.
